Wings for the Soul

A wellness experience and a deep connection with nature

EcoPeruTours

Birdwatching is much more than a nature-based activity — it is a way to reconnect with life. Various scientific studies show that seeing or listening to birds can reduce anxiety, improve mood, and strengthen emotional well-being. Research published in Scientific Reports (White et al., 2022; Hammerschmidt et al., 2022) and Ecological Economics (Methorst et al., 2021) confirms that contact with birds and their diversity is linked to a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Thematic Program (Duration: 3 hours)
  1. Silence and Presence: A gentle beginning with a brief introduction to the practice of birdfulness: conscious breathing, guided silence, and sensory awakening in the natural environment.
  2. Listening and Mindful Observation: A slow walk along forest trails and lagoon shores. Participants learn to recognize the songs, shapes, and behaviors of local birds, integrating mindfulness with aesthetic appreciation.
  3. Inner Flight: A reflective closing by the water. A space to share sensations, record emotions, and understand how nature and birds can inspire balance and well-being in everyday life.

Recommendations

  • Wear comfortable clothing, preferably in neutral or earth tones to avoid disturbing wildlife.
  • Bring water and light snacks to stay hydrated during the slow walk.
  • Use sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat to protect yourself from sun exposure and insects.
  • Bring a small notebook or journal for reflections during the “Inner Flight” session.
  • Wear closed-toe walking shoes, as trails may include uneven or natural terrain.
  • Bring a light jacket or sweater, since forests and lagoons can be cool, especially in the morning.
  • Avoid strong perfumes, which can repel birds and affect the natural experience.
  • Keep phones on silent mode to maintain a mindful and peaceful atmosphere.
  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early to begin the experience calmly and without rushing.
